“Museum” an excerpt from the video “Perception”, presents a virtual museum of visual illusions where, in the foreground, a hypnotically moving scale sways in a fragile balance: a metaphor for humanity suspended between fall and ascent. Behind this rhythm of elusive equilibrium float glass-encased exhibits, artifacts of a reality preserved under glass, both the observer and the observed.
This surrealist staging invites the viewer to sense, through gaze and silence, the fundamental instability of our condition and the possibility of a reconfiguration of the self.
In this work, Stephan Renault explores the boundary between protection and exposure, between preservation and rebirth, offering an experience that is both perceptual and spiritual, where visual illusion reveals the fragility of our condition and our aspiration to transcend the limits of the visible.
