This work by Stephan Renault stands out as a dense abstraction, where the deep tones create a restrained yet vibrant visual field. Textures play a central role here: they seem to cut into the surface, imbuing it with a contained energy, almost as if burning from within.
“Brûlure” seems to burn away in an alchemy of acid greens, incandescent oranges, and deep blacks, like a map of lava and vegetation. The various overlapping patterns radiate like molten metal, organizing the chromatic chaos and giving it an almost mystical axis. The abstract masses balance between charred areas and lighter patches, creating a continuous tension between shadow and embers. The textures, at times liquefied, at times grainy, evoke the burn, the trace of an intense contact with matter—between fusion, magma, and still-hot ashes. The whole strikes the viewer with its visual density, as if the image were silently continuing its combustion within the gaze.
